Final Reflection

Reflection Prompt to replace Design Project 1
Reflect on what you learned from your exploring different technologies each week, reading others' reflections, giving/receiving feedback from peers, and developing your design project.
I’ve learned so much this term.  I’ve stated in other posts that I would have never thought how much work; real work is completed to create an engaging online course.  Being asked to explore and discover the various features in software or applications was so interesting.  I never would have learned about the numerous facets of the ‘Google family’ and what was offered…had it not been for this course.
Having just completed my Design Project, and using PBWorks, I learned why there are so many options, features offered.  Each feature within the software brings the student into a different learning experience; that is why I chose to use Multiple Intelligence Theory for my final project.  Whether it was uploading a video or using a discussion board feature, I as the instructor was comforted that each learner was to have a place in the learning process.
What impact did these weekly explorations have on your design project?
The weekly explorations had a great impact.  I was able to add features to my design project that I may not have added prior to learning in the class.   I had never explored some of the Google products available.  Using the PBWorks software in a flipped classroom format was easy and simple to follow for both the student, and me.
Would you say that those activities had more or less impact on your project than the Readings & Resources and weekly discussions?
The readings and resources had a great impact.  I used what I had learned about the flipped classroom process, through reading the articles and other readings afforded to me.  Thus, it allowed me to think about how I wanted to structure my 3-day workshop/session on time management.
Would your project design have been quite a bit different if you hadn't had the weekly Design Experiments, peer rating activities, or weekly readings and discussions?
I believe it would have been different.
How so?
I wouldn’t have had the knowledge to use PBWorks or any other type of software like Edmodo.  Both programs featured great aspects for an online course…and I chose PBWorks for its features that were simple to use.  I liked the format and layout of the software, during my design phase I stayed aware of what it would look like to the students completing the coursework.

I feel encouraged to delve more into designing more student success series modules…and I thank you for requesting we seek more for our students.
